CORNWALL HOSPITAL

THE QUESTION OP TERMS Decision to take over the Cornwall Hospital in terms of two letters received from the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, was made at a meeting of the Auckland Hospital Board last evening. There was only one major point of difference between the terms as set out by the Minister and those to which the board recently gave approval. In his letter the Minister agreed to a reasonable reduction in the rental for beds surplus to requirements, while the board had understood that the term was to be a proportionate reduction. The chairman of the finance committee, Mr. J. Grierson, said he thought there had possibly been •some misunderstanding, and it was decided to ask that the word "proportionate" be substituted for "reasonable." The board further resolved that the rental of £20,000 a year be paid to the War Assets Realisation Board as from April 1 of this year.
