Howick Red Cross. —Mrs. Hughes presided over a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Howick Sub-centre of the Red Cross, when a report was given of a satisfactory year's work. It was stated that weekly work meetings had been held throughout the year, attention being concentrated on sewing and knitting garments for distressed civilians overseas and for prisoners of war. There was an interesting display of samples of the work done. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mrs. Eisdell Moore; president, Mrs. L. Hughes; vice-president, Mrs. M, Trail; honorary secretary, Mrs. Younghusband; honorary treasurer, Mrs. Pritchard; committee, Mesdames Brooke, Chapman,' Cobbalt, 'Dunlop, Irvine. Keir, Nicol, Swinnock, Wilkins and Wyatt; honorary auditor, Mr. N. J. Ray.
