SYNCOPATE IN FORM

USEFUL TRAINING AT EPSOM Quite a number of horses with engagements at the Patriotic meeting at Alexandra Park on Saturday were sent against the watch at Epsom this morning, and among those to impress were Syncopate, Sonny Jewel, Black Label and Noble do Oro. Training was 50ft out on the course proper and the track was dead. Syncopate recorded the best figures early, when she covered a mile and :i quarter in 3.2, and easily beat the Claudelands winner Ann Scott whilst coming over the final half-mile in 1.8. Syncopate is on the limit in the Churchill Handicap. Another good trial over a mile and a quarter was that of Sonny Jewel, which beat Sonja Henie in 3.5 and 1.18 1-5, finishing on exceptionally well. BJaclc Label, working alone and unhoppled, clocked 3.5 and 1.11. He is in nice condition. Noble de Oro was well clear of Nancy Lynn in 3.20 and 1.12. The Churchill candidate Shadow Son finished in front of Franco and Peter Pointer at the conclusion of a mile and a half in 3.47, the sprint home taking 1.10. Te Roto and Bridget Mac were sent over two miles and did their work well, although the time was nothing to enthuse over, being 5.30 and 1.13 2-5 for the final half-mile. . Auto Era finished clear of Fly High at the end of a mile and a quarter in 3.20 and 1.4, and there was little between Sir Archie, La Diamond and Indian Star as they finished in that order in 3.12 2-5 and 1.13 2-5. Athlone Direct was too good for Indian Lad at the end of a nnle and a half in 3.50, the last half-mile in 1.13.
