HAMILTON BY-ELECTION FOR SELECTION BALLOTS O.C. HAMILTON, this day. Captain Kenneth L. Sandford, formerly of Hamilton, has accepted an invitation to allow his name to go forward to the selection ballot" for the National Party representative at the Hamilton by-election, caused by the death of Mr. F. Findlay, M.P. Captain Sandford enlisted in the forces four and a half years ago and served in the Pacific. He was a barrister on the staff of Strang and Taylor, of Hamilton. The first nominee for Labour selection is Mr. Robert Freeman, who has been nominated by the Frankton branch. _ Mr. Freeman contested the Rangitikei seat for Labour in the 1943 election. Advice received in Hamilton today was that Major W. S. Jordan, who is convalescing in Hawke s Bay, will not be a candidate in the by-election- „, T The National Secretary of the New •Zealand Labour Party, Mr. M. Moohan, is in Hamilton.
