GERMANS EVACUATED

from saar palatinate Rec. 2 p.m. LONDON, March 22. German troops have been evacuated from the Saar Palatinate, according to Berlin radio. German forces radio reported Allied attempts to cross the. Rhine, apparently on reconnaissance, at points along the 40-mile stretch between Bonn and Dusseldorf. The radio adds that heavy British artillery has arrived in the Wes>.l area and begun practice shooting to enable the gunners to get their bearings. A German war reporter stated that the Americans' noval methods of tank warfare have beat the Germans in the Saar. "American tanks," he added, "are dashing through the country with escorts of self-propelled guns."
