POST OFFICE ACCOUNTS
DIRECTOR TO RETIRE
p.A. WELLINGTON, Wednesday.
The director of accounts in the General Post Office, Mr. P. Cutforth, will retire from the service at the end of March next. Mr. Cutforth joined the Post and Telegraph Department at Whangarei m 1900. He later served with the Public Trust Office and the Land and Income Tax Department before returning to the Post and Telegraph Department. Since 1940 he has been a member of the New Zealand National War Savings Committee. He has been director of accounts for seven years. Mr. J. J. Knight, deputy-director of accounts for the past three years, will succeed Mr. Cutforth. Mr. Knight commenced his post office career in Waverley in 1912. He is a member of the departmental joint advisory council. Mr. L. F. Smith, deputy-chief postmaster at Christchurch since 1943, has been appointed divisional director in the General Post Office.
