ANTI-COMMUNIST
Australian Labour Party
Gives Ruling
»IK. J. WALSH NEW PRESIDENT Rec. 1.30 p.m. SYDNEY, this day. No member of the Australian Labour party may represent the party at any meeting to which a member of the Communist party has been invited. The Federal executive of the Australian Labour party gave this instruction to all branches after the question had been raised of Communist association with the Labour party at the powers referendum last August. The newly-elected president of the A.L.P., Mr. J. F. Walsh, of South Australia, explained that the decision did not mean that a member of the Labour party could not attend in his private meeting to which a member of the Communist party had been invited. But he must not represent the A.L.P. Mr. Walsh, who has been senior vice-president of the A.L.P. for the past three years, replaces as president Mr. C. G. Fallon, who resigned office. Mr. Fallon had been president of the party for five years.
