"WILL BE HELD"
PEACE CONFERENCE
After Japanese Have Been
Defeated
N.Z. Press Association—Copyright Rec. 2 p.m. WASHINGTON, Feb. 14. Indications are mounting that the "Big Three" have decided to hold a grandiose peace conference when Japan is defeated, says the Associated Press. Previously the American authorities hinted that there would be a series of piecemeal settlements rather than a formal peace conference, such as the Versailles Conference. The Crimea Conference communique referred to a peace conference and Mr. J. F. Byrnes, Director of the Office of "War Momibilisation, who attended the conference, said to-day that it is expected that there will be a peace conference. Territorial decisions already announced, which will be formally adopted at the peace conference, the Associated Press states, include the award of Bessarabia to Russia, the return of Transylvania to Rumania and the fixing of the Curzon Line as Russia's western frontier. The actual peace with Germany may not be signed for many years.
