Now Useless

Marshals Zhukov and Rokossovsky are moving like a tidal wave towards the Baltic along an unbroken front, which runs in almost a straight line 165 miles from the suburbs of Stratgurt to Marienburg, writes a Moscow correspondent. This move through the Pomeranian lake region and the Polish Corridor has made the Danzig-Stettin railway practically useless to the Germans. The railway is under fire in a number of places, and is threatened with being cut in the region of Chosnice. Marshals Zhukov and Rokossovsky are also daily increasing their threat to the sea communications of the Germans trapped in the Tukums and Libau area, as well as in East Prussia, while the Red Air Force has practically eliminated help for the enemy by air. The enemy panzers are continuing their attempts to break out of the encirclement in East Prussia, and in one place ran through a column of German refugees which was jamming the road. Red Army men afterwards found the road littered with dead Germans. The enemy's path had been little handicapped by refugees, who were crushed by their own tanks.
