PATRIOTIC ART UNION
WOMEN'S COMMITTEE OPINION The opinion that if an art union was conducted in Auckland most of the patriotic funds could be raised was expressed at the first meeting for the year of the women's activities sub-committee of the Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Committee. Miss V. Walsh reported that the Information Bureau had experienced a busy time during the sale of tickets for the Victory art union, and it was agreed to make representations to the finance and executive committee concerning the possibility of raising money for patriotic funds in this way. It was decided that the patriotic shop would resume in March. Presenting the house committee report, Miss B. Carnachan said that last week 4219 parcels had been packed for the forces serving overseas. Among the contents were 3456 pairs of socks. The intake of garments by the Air Force Relations numbered 8565 to date, stated Mrs. Lan Horton. Mrs. A. E. Moore reported that the reception committee had entertained a draft of R.A.A.F. men who were passing through Auckland on active service. The Mayoress, Mrs. Allum, presided.
