CORONAIRE AGAIN
CAMBRIA DEFEATED
FINAL TRAINING FOR TE RAPA
Confirming his fine effort earlier in the week, Coronaire again defeated Cambria over six furlongs at Takanini this morning, when final gallops for the Waikato races at Te Rapa on Saturday took place. The trial was on the middle grass, which was in excellent order, and Coronaire's time, 1.17 3-5, was not bettered. High Span and Plassida required 1.19, there being little between them at the end. Harris Tweed recorded his best effort since his arrival at Takanini when ne shaded Richelieu in 1.31 3-o, the first half-mile being covered in 50 2-os. Gay Lally was worked over a aiile and a quarter, and in covering his last nule in 1.50 he left the impression that he had a good deal in reserve. Artificer and Fame Bian were sent over 11 furlongs in 2.32, the pace being on only over the last three furlongs, which were traversed in 38s. Both horses came home in pleasing style. Sweet Biscuit and Lord Chancellor were sprinted half a mile, and, although the former gained an initial advantage, Lord Chancellor finished soundly to be within reach of her in 50s. Bycroft and Balgowan shaped well for iuveniles to clock 51s, the latter scoring by a neck. Balmacara was too good for Royal Slipper and could have increased his advantage of a length at the end of their task in 525. Beau Sir! and Beau Volo ran five furlongs in 1.4, La Fillette completing the final five of six furlongs in 1.5, and Broieform clocked 1.6 for a similar task. Mild Flutter sprinted home the last three furlongs of her task ;n 38 3;55, Perdition shaping well while recording 395, time which was equalled by Beau Dink and the Cambria Park filly.
ALL QUIET AT ELLERSLIE
SAFFRON WALDBN IMPROVED There were ho outstanding gallops at Ellerslie this morning, when the No. 1 grass track was in use and provided excellent going. Rara Avis came, home from the sixfurlong post in 1.17 3-5. He ran the last half-mile in 50s, and was doing his work well at the finish. Saffron Walden and His Grace were timed to run four furlongs in 51s. Saffron Walden came through his racing at the Matamata and Rotorua meetings in good style, and more money looks assured for the son of Foxbridge. Subadar ran the last three of four furlongs in 38s without being fully extended. The stablemates, Broiedame and Brief, completed five furlongs in 1.4 4-5. Broiedame has made good progress during the last few weeks. „ , Colonel Dink was going comfortably throughout half a mile run in 535, and Black Revnard strode over six furlongs in 1.23 3-5. , , Our Gold got to the end of seven furlongs in 1.40 3-5, and Killfast ran the same distance in 1.35 2-5, the last halfmile with a companion in 52 l-ss.
