CHRISTCHURCH GAS PROFIT
The accounts of the Gas, Coal and Coke Company, Ltd., for the year ended December 21 disclose a net profit of £18,625, comparing with £19,091 the previous year, and £17,765 in 1942. There is a balance of £22,272 in the profit and loss appropriation : ?count. As already announced, the diree' rs proposed a final dividend of 3 per cc :, making fi per cent for the year, unci nged, which was authorised at the ar ual meeting vesterday. This absorbed :; 18,036, leaving £4236 to be carried forward, against £3647 brought in. Revenue from sales at £234,131 showed an increase of £13 894 over the previous year, but this was offset by an increase of £15,629 m total expenses, which totalled £154,730. Tax provision was £47,060, against £46,950 the previous year.
