MAORI BY-ELECTION
We read with keen interest an article that" appeared on February 1, concerning a statement made by Prince Haunui Tawhiao, the chiefs and majority of people of Waikato certify that they are much annoyed by Princess Te Puea and friends for using the "king" movement and sacred Press, "Te Paki-o-Matariki" for political propaganda purposes, as King Koroki is a non-supporter of any candidate in this Western Maori by-election, though he and the chiefs of Waikato, Taranaki and Wanganui are much in sympathy nvith the plea of the Ngatiranginui tribe for parliamentary representative and their selection 'of a good man In Mr. M. \V. Piahana as candidate. The stated fiO district tribal committees are not Maori, they are Government macninerv absolutely, so naturally they would work in the interest of the Government party candidate. Kia ora mai. ■ MANA MAORI MOTUHAKE.
