Trotting Cup History
One of the hottest favourites beaten in the New Zealand Trotting Cup wa=r Kingcraft in 1929. He stood on the mark. The record winning time for the Cup. 4.13 3-5 was put up by Haughty last year! Harold Logan had to register" 4.12 2-5 for third in 1934. Indianapolis won three times, 1934, 1930 and 1936. Ahuriri won in 1925 and 1926. and was third in the blanket finish of 1928. Lucky Jack won in 1937 and 1939 and was second in 1938. Mares who have won the Cup are Marian, Lady Clare, Win Soon. Country Belle, Adelaide Direct', Trix Pointer, Reta Peter (twice), Marlene and Haughty (twice). The year Cathedral Chimes won, 1916, a grandstand was burned to the ground during the race. J: Bryce has trained the winners of six Cups — Cathedral Chimes. Great Hope, Ahuriri (twice), Kohara and Red Shadow.
