Australians On North NewGuinea Coast SEPIK RIVER MOUTH REACHED Rec. 2 p.m. SYDNEY, this day. Australian forces, continuing their uninterrupted advance along the north New Guinea coast, have reached the mouth of the Sepik River—Bo miles from their base at Buna Buna Harbour, and only 70 miles south-east of Wewak, the concentration point for the remnants of the Japanese 18th Army trapped in British New Guinea. At Hansa Bay, once the enemy's principal coastal base, large quantities of abandoned supplies and equipment were captured. In further mopping up operations on Biak Island, Dutch New Guinea, American troops have killed an additional 272 Japanese. Liberators, raiding Yap, shot down seven and damaged five others of 30 intercepting fighters. ' All the Liberators returned safely to their base, although some were damaged.
