THE LEAGUE CODE

NO TRAVEL PERMITS

REP. MATCHES AFFECTED The board of control of the Auckland Rug-by League, at a meeting last evening, received advice that as railway travel permits were not available the proposed representative match between West Coast and Auckland could not be played at Auckland on July 15. The chairman, Mr. J. W. Watson, said the West Coast League deserved encouragement. and if the match could not be played this year they could be given first consideration next year. It was decided to express regret at the development, and if the circumstances changed to give any application favourable consideration. It was decided to arrange a representative match with South Auckland for August 5, at Carlaw Park. In reply to a request from the Wellington Rugby League for a representative match, it was decided to point out the position in regard to the travel ban. Question of Time Complaint was received that a schoolboys' match between Marist and Ellerslie, at the Auckland Domain on May 13, did not finish on time, and the result was affected. Mr. A. E. Wetherill said that the schoolboys' committee had pot a signed statement irom the referee that correct time was played. They had to rule accordingly, as the releree was the sole judre of time. Mr. G. Grantley ssid that an agreement was made to play the match in two 25 minutes* spells, with a five minutes' interval. The play was prolonged beyond the time arranged. They wanted a replay if the match had a bearing on the championship. Mr. W. Mincharn said that if the referee said correct time was played, the only ruling could be that the came stood. The chairman. Mr. J. W. Watson, considered they should ask for fuller details from the referee. It was decided to ask the referee to appear before the board.
