HOUSING SHORTAGE
A FURTHER CONFERENCE At a meeting of the housing committee of the Second N.Z.E.F. Association it was decided to hold a further conference with interested organisations on July 12 in the Oddfellows' Buildings, when proposals would be placed before delegates to ease the present acute shortage of houses. Among the proposals would be the setting up of a ways and means committee, examination of the Fair Rents Act, sound short-term temporary housing schemes, further use of temporary community housing by making use of vacated hospitals and camps on public property, and the relaxing of by-laws in a com-mon-sense manner for a stated period.
