EDEN PARK ATTRACTION POSSIBILITY OK SECOND GAME Congratulations were extended by the members of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby Union to the chairman, Mr. A. A. Baker, on his election as president of the New Zealand Rugby Union. In reply to Mr. A. J. Billington, who congratulated him on the honour both to himself and to the Auckland union. Mr. Baker said he recognised that the honour was both to himself and tin.* union. He had been connected with Rugby in Auckland for nearly 20 years and hoped to be able to take an active interest for many more years. Full arrangements are being made for the American football game at Eden Park on Saturday in aid of New Zealand patriotic funds, and the crowd may be the largest assembled since the Springbok tour of 1U37. This game will start at 1.30 and will be followed by a match between the Training College and Navy Rugby teams. New Zealand funds have already benefited to the extent of approximately £1000 through American football. Mr. Baker said it was hoped that a second game would be played at Eden Park later in the season in aid of the Rugby UnionA circular letter was received from the Minister of Education through the Auckland Council of Sport, inviting the union to submit ideas for a proposed education conference to be held in August. The following motion was passed:—"That this union is of the opinion that recreation grounds of sufficient size to cater for all games, with adequate facilities, should be compulsorilv provided in every district in proportion to the population of that district."
