RAT MENACE

I think that no time should be I lost in dealing with the rat menace. I There is no doubt a big .majority !of the public have taken the rat situation seriously, but not too many have availed themselves of the free rat poison to be obtained at the Town Hall. Some people are careful for a week or so and then get tired of the poisoning, and as a consequence. rats are back as bad as ever. May I suggest that the chief warden hand this matter over to E.P.S.O. for a complete rat week and lay poison every night on every likely place. It would not be a big job, and I'm sure the E.P.S.O. would willingly do it. and make a good job of it. To get a big organisation of all departments of the E.P.S.O. working on the wholesale slaughter of rats would soon get nd of many thousands of the pest. The present is a wonderful opportunity, as the rats are very hungry, even eating garden fruit and vegetables. We should not delay, but do something to get rid of these abominable pests before something more serious happens. J.R.K.204.
