"A BAD EXAMPLE"

HOURS OF WORK IN HOUSE (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The suggestion that the House of Representatives which, he said, was setting a bad example to the country in the hours worked, should sit from Monday moaning until Saturday was put forward in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon by Mr. Roy (Nat., Clutha). There was so much to be done, particularly in wartime, that the House should sit right through the week and so help to prosecute the war effort. At present it adjourned at 5.30 p.m. on Friday until 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, and the Government would say that it was following traditions.

The Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones: What does your party say to that?

Mr. Roy: My party is in agreement, and I think the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Holland, voiced a protest at the beginning of the session.
