HOSPITAL NEEDS
VARIOUS PROPOSALS MADE The Auckland Hospital Board, at a meeting last evening, decided to instruct the acting architect, Mr. R. Farrell, to prepare a sketch plan for the extension of the new block at the Green Lane Hospital, where it is intended to provide an X-ray department and accommodation for other services. The Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, in a letter, said that the War Cabinet was agreeable that half the cost of equipping the new Middlemore Hospital should be met out of the War Expenses Account. On the question of additional accommodation for nurses at the Auckland Hospital, the Buildings Committee expressed the opinion that the present building should be extended to the east, with accommodation in the extension for 300 nurses, a kitchen and a dining room. The committee's report was adopted.
