LATIN AND LAW

Professor C. G. Cooper, professor of classics at the Auckland University College, asks us to make the following correction: "In yesterday's Star under the heading 'Latin and Law' a correspondent, 'Second Year at Latin,' wrote: 'In order to obtain a pass at the local university, the professor states that every student must have at least a minimum of one year's post-matriculation work in Latin. Even then he must devote nearly all his study to Latin. The student who has matriculated and gone straight to university stands practically no chance of gaining a pass.' This may be taken as referring to me. Will you please make it clear that the three statements made do not represent either my beliefs or the advice I give my students."
