UNUSUAL CHARGE
BROUGHT BY A WIFE
HUSBAND FOR TRIAIi
In a private prosecution brought in the Police Court before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., to-day, Clifford Dennis Connolly, surveyor's assistant, was charged' on February 20 with unlawfully detaining Anne Coralie Connolly, a child of four years and seven months, with intent to deprive Rachel Connolly of the child, in pursuance of an order for guardianship made on October 6.
Mr. M. Robinson' appeared to prosecute on behalf of Mrs. Connolly, while Mr. Dickson represented the defendant, the husband and father of the child. Connolly pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. He was allowed bail in his own recognisance. The magistrate made an order allowing defendant to have custody of the child from noon on Saturday until 5 p.m. on Sunday, every second week.
