FACTORY FIRE
NEW PLYMOUTH BLAZE TIMBER STOCKS SAVED (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. A serious fire early this morning destroyed the large joinery factory of the Sash and Door Timber Company, Limited. The factory was almost completely burnt out —building stock and plant. The damage, which is covered bv insurance, represents several thousands of pounds. A fine save was made by the brigade in preventing the spread of the fire to the yards, where large quantities of timber were stocked under cover, also to adjoining buildings. Fortunately large stocks of joinery made under Government contracts had been completed and dispatched. When the brigade received the alarm the interior of the twostoreyed building was a seething mass "of flames. Portions of the roof quickly fell in. S< ie of the machinery, it i≤ believed, may be reconditioned.
