OUT OP HACKS Sister Sal, which is to race at Trentham this week, made an auspicious exit from the hack class by beating the open sprinters at Wingatui with apparently ridiculous ease—once an opening presented itself on the rails. Tb/s Gore-trained mare has made remarkable progress since she won a trial event at Oamaru last autumn, and is on the way to real class. She is eligible to run out hack nominations at Trentham, and is engaged in the Ruapehu Handicap with 9.5. MATAMATA TEAM j W Cathro left Matamata for Trentham with Roionui, Neenah, Cracroft and Fortune's Smile. Dye left Matamata on Monday niclit en route to Awapuni, where he will ride work prior to going on to Wellington. His mounts on Saturday include Classform (Cup) and Keen Play.
