U.S. AIR VICTORY IN CHINA Rec. 1.30 CHUNGKING, Dec. 20. Eighteen Japanese medium bombers, escorted by Zeros, attacked the American main air defence base on Saturday, causing only minor damage to the field, states General Stilwell's communique. Without loss, the American fighters shot down four Zeros. The Japanese broke through the Chinese cordon north-west of Lihsien, in the Tungting Lake area, says the Chinese communique. Considerable casualties were inflicted on the enemy in mopping up south of the Li River.
