TODAY'S RACING CHAIN ACRE

HURDLES VICTORY

RACING AT WAIPA

Beautiul weather favoured the Waipa Racing Club for the meeting held at Te Awamutu to-day. Theic was a very large attendance. turning for home, and Triad then M\ breaking a leg. Goldinc was not Serwards troubled, and Colostrip easily defeated Mercurial for second place, Roianui and Llanarth were next. Kittyora led practically all the way in the second division, bhe was nursed by T. Green crossing the top where Banchory was on the outside of her with Diamond King and Sistei Fox most prominent of the others. Just before entering the home stretch Green sent Kittyora away to win very easily by a neck from Banchory, with Fine Kin. Diamond King. Greek Boy and Sister Fox following. The third division was more or less a repetition of the second, except in so far-as the horses were concerned. Royal Advice and Sedgemere were actually the first to show out, but Flowerburn quickly took the lead from them, and he was followed into the straight by Royal Advice, Lagenia, Sedgemere and Lo Zin Flowerburn had a easy win by three-quarters of a length from Royal Advice. Sedgemere, T,agen.ia, Lo Zin and Ninth Star followed in that order. Chain Acre Wins After having been out of luck for a long time Chain Acre returned to the winning list when he finished too strongly for the opposition in the W. G. Park Hurdles. He is a comparative novice at the game, having had only a couple of races over hurdles, but he jumped well this afternoon and was going away at the judge. It was not a good race. Winning Tray, Cherry Hunter, Manora and Eurotas led for a mile and a quarter, when Eurotas took the lead and Chain Acre and Royal Jay moved up. Eurotas led into the straight, but Chain Acre finished fast on the rails and won easily by three-quarters of a length. Royal Jay was a fair third just clear of Winning Tray, Etaro and Our Nation. Manora stopped very badly in the last quarter and was a long way back at the judge.

Favourite Scores Nepeta, which had raced prominently at the Waikato meeting without getting into the money, was made a solid favourite for the First Ohaupo Hack and he finished determinedly to win narrowly after having been hampered in the early stages of the race. It was a smart performance and he may win again at the holiday meetings. Bournemouth was the first to catch the eye from a good start, Noble Eagle, Quination and Bright Lady also being prominent. At the quarter mile pole Quination drew clear of Bournemouth and Nepeta moved through smartly into second place. Abbey King, Tavernside and Funny Fox were handy and as they came into the home stretch Quination appeared to have the race won. However, Nepeta and jockey Galvm would not be denied, and Mr. Cucksey's horse was a neck to the good passing the judge. Bournemouth was a poor third, four lengths away, while Marinoto beat the others. Results:— 1 WAIPA rLATE of £300. Weight for age. Seven furlongs.
