£150 STOLEN
BURGLARS IN NEWTON
EXPERTS AGAIN AT WORK
Burglars who broke into the premises of The House of Flackson, 191-197, Karangahape Road,' Newton, last night, were rewarded with a good haul. They blew open the safe and decamped with £150 in cash.
The manner in which the safe was opened with gelignite suggests that the operators were skilled safebreakers. It was a clean "job." Entrance was gained from the rear of the premises, the burglars climbing on to the roof of the workroom and entering the warehouse through a window which they found unlocked. Due to the rusted fittings this window would not close properly. After forcing a door they went into the office to blow the safe. A quantity of clothing which the thieves used to pack on the sate in order to muffle the noise of the explosion was damaged.
