GOLDEN WEDDING

MR. AND MRS. H. C. LEVETT At their home in Napier Avenue, Takapuna, during the week-end, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Levett celebrated their golden wedding. The gathering was entirely informal, and during the day over 70 old friends called to express their good wishes. Mr. Levett was brought up and educated in Rugby. Mrs. Levett was born in Yorkshire, and the couple were married there by Canon A. N. Cooper on November 29, 1893. The following year they left for New Zealand and settled on a farm pear Feilding. After five years they moved to Feilding itself, and later went to the Waikato, where they farmed for over 12 years, when they left for Auckland and have lived at Takapuna ever since. A beautiful wedding cake with gold decorations was presented by their only son, Mr. H. G. Levett, and his wife. STREET COLLECTION RESIDENTIAL NURSERY The sum of £51 was realised as a result of a street collection held in the Mount Eden borough by the local committee of the Auckland Residential Nursery Society on Friday. MRS. M. J. MENZIES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. The death occurred yesterday of Mrs. M. J. Menzies, wife of Mr. J. L. Menzies, acting-Trade Commissioner for Australia in New Zealand. Mrs. Menzies was 47. She had been in illhealth for some years.

DIAMOND WEDDING (0.C.) DUNEDIN, this day. Mr. J. Inglis Wright, of Dunedin, the founder of one of the first advertising agencies in New Zealand, celebrated his diamond wedding yesterday. Mr. Wright was married in Christchurch to Miss Rankeilor Kilgour in ISB3. Most of his married life has been spent in Dunedin, where he founded the advertising firm of J. Inglis Wright, Ltd. CLUBS AND SOCIETIES Newton East Mission.—The Newton East Mission Hall was well filled for the closing meeting of the year of the mothers. The leader. Mrs. M. E. Morrish, presided. Addresses were given by Mrs. Simpson and Mr. D. Bcath. A report of the year's work was given by the secretary, Mrs. Best. Prizes for attendance were presented by Mrs. Mcrrish, and special mention was made of Mrs. Hullah and Mrs. Douglas and Mrs. McKearney for service throughout the year.
