FIVE MEN INJURED
WHEN CAR STRIKES POLE
Early yesterday morning, a car travelling to the city struck a pole on the Great North Road, near Western Springs, and five young men were injured. A fracture of the skull was suffered by the driver, Mr. Vivian Gordon (21), a labourer. His condition in the Auckland Hospital this afternoon was fair.
The condition of Mr. Richard O'Brien (21), who fractured his forearm, is fair, and Mr. David Renata (26), who suffered concussion, a lacerated scalp and injuries to the right hip, is progressing. The two other passengers, Mr. Roy Hussey (21) and Mr. Were Kake (22) received treatment at the casualty department of the hospital.
