RAILWAY BOOKINGS
NEW SYSTEM FOR AUCKLAND A reorganisation of staff and facilities at the reservations office of the Auckland Railway Station has made it easier to handle large crowds with speed and efficiency. Mr. P. Cleverley, of the Reservations Department, said to-day that it was intended to centralise all reservation work in the one office. Work apart from reservations, at present being done in the booking office, would eventually be carried out in another room, thus giving the public a better service than has been possible in the past. Another innovation which will aid in reducing the congestion at rush periods, is a wooden partition with three pigeon-holes to be erected at the front edge or the counter. This will eliminate large crowds forming up at the open counter, as under the former system, and slowing up business to a considerable degree.
