BOYS MEET TUNNEY
EX-CHAMPION SHOWS HOW
IMPRESSED BY WAIKATO (0.C.) HAMILTON, this day. When Commander Gene Tunney was in Hamilton yesterday on his way back to Auckland from Rotorua he provided a thrill for two boys. Commander Tunney was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wilkinson, River Road, who were friends of his in the United States. The exchampion boxer noticed the two sons of Mr. Wilkinson's neighbour in their garden. Themselves interested in boxing, the boys were manifesting natural curiosity in the former champion, but they scarcely expected so much as to have Commander Tunney leap over the fence and proceed to demonstrate to them a few points of the art. Commander Tunney, whose property in the States includes a small farm, said he was most impressed by the Waikato pastures and intended to bring his wife to New Zealand to see such wonderfully productive farm lands.
