Twice more he repeated the throw, and there was more than a suspicion that Lofty's grogciness was feigned so obligingly did he drop his shoulders for Ding's embrace Ding came in for a fourth? and, in a ,™T', waii lifted clear of the floor and muled over the ropes. There was mild upionr as the referee disappeared from the ring and left bad-man Lofty in sole charge presumably the victor. An official stepped through the ropes with the loudspeaker and announced that Ding (thoujrh down and out) was the winner, his opponent s weight-lifting feat having incurred disqualification. Lofty donned his gown, curtsied gracefully in 'the direction where Ding: was still writhing with a gesture which might have meant: "Ladies and gentlemen. I have given him the works, and withdrew before a thunder ot mixed hooting and applause.
