GOLDEN ACRE RECOVERS FROM INJURY

{Special;};;; •- WANGANUI, Wednesday. Arlarge number of horses are in work lip and. dpwn the coast in- view of the Wanganui meeting oh September :il and IS,-and there is every prospect that the entries, which close on Monday, will be very satisfactory., Golden Acre has made a good recovery from the severe injury he suffered as a result of getting into a cattle stop, and is in regular work again. If George Moore can get this gelding back to his best form again he is sure to pick up a good stake or two. . The three-year-old Keite-he is in training after a let-up because of soreness. This, son of Defoe looks well and, if he trains on all right, should' win a race or two for Mr. Frank Bristol this season. Rita Jackson, who trains Keite-he, also has Baron Bold and Knight's Caprice in work, and they are both to race at the Wanganui meeting. The Inflation—Damaris colt which is being got ready for racing by Mr. Paul is a splendid type of two-year-old, and he should carry his ownesr's colours prominently. A younger colt out of Damaris by Lang Bian is one of the best-looking yearlings seen in this district for years, and it will be surprising if this youngster does not make a name for himself on the turf. Amigo is to resume work nexjt week. Since racing at Trentham the Beau Pere gelding has been kept buky with road work, and should not take long to get into order again. Amigo may be tried over hurdles. L. J. ELLIS AS TRAINER L. J. Ellis contemplates an extension of his racing activities. He may take on the training of a few horses though he has no thought of giving up riding. TO BE SPELLED Foxton trainer V. E. Bryant took Broker's Dream down for the second day of the Riccarton carnival to run in the Islington Handicap, but after working a good seven on Thursday morning he was found to be suffering from tendon trouble, and Bryant considers that the horse will require a good spell. FIRST FOR TWO YEARS Now a five-year-old, Bascule made his first appearance for nearly two years in the August Handicap at Riccarton on SaUirday, but he was very, burly and did not show up. This Foxbridge horse slipped a muscle during the running of the Canterbury Cup in November, 1941, and has been off the scene since. Earlier that spring he had shown useful form when winning the-Heretaunga Handicap at Trentham, and then finished third in Battledress's Derby. He remains the property of Mr, H. D. Greenwood.
