TRAM TRACK WORK MINISTER IMPOSES BAN (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Manpower, Mr. McLagan, has served notice on the Wellington City Council prohibiting the employment of girls and women for manual labour in connection with the maintenance and repair of tramwav tracks. Women have already'been at work in this occupation. The Minister has taken this step under the authority of the Industrial Manpower Emergency Regulations, which contain a clause providing that the Minister may require employers to obtain the consent of the district manpower officer before engaging workers for any specified industry
