TRONDHEIM ATTACK

U-BOAT BASE DESTRUCTION LONDON, Aug. 19 Three and a half years of hard work on the German U-boat base at Trondheim by thousands of Norwegian foreign workers was undone in less than 10 minutes by the American air raid of July 24, according to reports reaching Stockholm. The only undamaged spot withm the target area was a concrete shelter for six U-boats. All buildings and workshops were destroyed and the gasworks were irreparably damaged. A floating dock, a destroyer, a U-boat, four tugs and a merchantman were sunk or badly damaged.
