SHOOTING ALLEGED
seaman for trial
ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE
(P.A.) MASTERTON, this day. mSder g of Richard Andrew Webber tnn 19 years, was committed for'trial at the next sittings of the Supreme Court in Wemngton when he appeared on remand m the Mao terton Magistrate's Court Messrs. A. 13. Low and H. F- Phher, J P's, were on the bench. Mr. A. JJ. Treadwell, of Wellington, appeared for the accused, who entered a plea of not guilty and reserved his Cl0 Delective - Sergeant W. Kane, of Masterton, prosecuted. The police stated that Middleton was a passenger in Webber's taxi after midnignt on April 24. As the car stopped near Clareville, Middleton allegedly shot Webber in the back of the neck. In a statement to the police accused said he intended to commit robbery by intimidating Webber with the gun. The gun went off and he ran away.
