FARM FERTILISERS
Protest that farmers were forced to buy serpentine-superphosphate mixture and transport it long distances to their farms when they already had unlimited supplies of lime in their own district was made at the provincial conference of the Auckland Farmers' Union yesterday afternoon. Apart from the question of the value of serpentine it was felt that farmers much preferred to mix their own fertiliser with lime, thus avoiding much unnecessary expense and labour. The conference unanimously adopted a remit thai all farmers who wanted straight superphosphate should be allowed to obtain it.
