Cpl. Richard John Cleverdon, died of wounds, was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Cleverdon, of 4, Muritai Road, Milford, and was aged 26. Cpl. Cleverdon was educated at Te Kuiti District High School, Croydon School, Day's Bay and Wellington College. His sporting interests included football, tennis and boxing.
