o 'VARSITY FOOTBAI/LER RETIRES N. Rutledge, holder of the New South Wales Rugby Union point-scoring record for a season, will play little football in Sydney this season. He is at present studying medicine at the University, and after completion of his examinations, he will leave for Tasmania, after a lew games with Gordon. Last season Rutledge was the outstanding threequarter in Rugby Union football, and broke T. C. Barnes' (W.S.) record of 176 points, made In 1937, by five points. Rutledge. who was the honorary secretary of the University team last year, will also relinquish that position at the annual meeting to be held this week.
