MR. FRASER'S PRAISE
CONTROL. OF CEREMONY
"It would be difficult to find anywhere better organisation and control than those which marked the impressive assembly at the dedication of the M. J. Savage Memorial and Garden of Remembrance at Bastion Point," said the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, in a statement before his departure for Wellington by the Limited express last night. "I desire to congratulate everybody concerned in the arrangements and to thank them all on their efficiency and excellent work. It is, of course, impracticable to elaborate details or refer to the numerous helpers, but I would like to mention particularly the civic authorities for their co-operation, the Auckland Labour organisations, the Police Department, traffic control officers, transport services, the St. John Ambulance, and the Boy Scouts' Association. Praise is also due to the Auckland Choral Society and associated choirs and the three bands whose ' contributions enhanced the harmony of the commemorative ceremony. But perhaps the greatest praise is due to the citizens of Auckland, who, in thousands, comported themselves with a fine decorum. They responded admirably to the spirit of the memorable occasion."
