VICTORIA LEAGUE
PATRIOTIC WORK REVIEWED
The Red Cross Shop, which is supported by all members of the Victoria League and a number of organisations, has been the means of raising £1581 towards funds for the Auckland sub-centre of the Red Cross Society, states the annual report of the Victoria League which will be presented at the annual meeting to be held in the Catholic Women's League rooms to-morrow evening. During the year, the report continues, the knitting circle has sent 918 articles to the Navy League, Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Committee, Air Force Relations and the Red Cross Society. The canteen, in the league rooms and open on Sundays to men of the forces and the Merchant Navy, has proved most successful. A total of 864 members had helped during the year, and 7000 men have been catered for and entertained. A tribute is paid to the girls of the Young Contingent who have given up spare time to do knitting and sewing and to entertain men of the armed forces.
