CAPSIZE OF TANK

SOLDIER FATALLY INJURED

WHANGAREI, Thursday. A member of an armoured unit suffered fatal injuries to-day, when a tank capsized on the Kara Road, about ten miles from Whangarei. He was: Trooper Graham Turner, aged 21, of Tokoroa. The driver, who was the only other occupant of the tank, was not injured, but suffered shock. Heavy rain had fallen just prior to the accident. At the inquest, opened late this afternoon by the coroner, Mr. J. G. Draper, Patrick Burnham Fox, medical officer of a field ambulance unit, said that death was due to head injuries, consistent with the head having been crushed by the overturning tank. The inquest was adjourned.
