WHARF DIFFICULTIES

WHANGAREI, Thursday. Unless sufficient labour was available in Whangarei to speed up the handling of cargoes the withdrawal of the Northern Steamship Company from the trade was threatened, but the position was met by Whangarei Harbour Board employees carrying out the work. The position was disclosed to the board to-day by a report from the engineer, Mr. W. M. Fraser, and a letter from the company.
