'QUAKE IN SOUTHLAND
(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Wednesday. Invercargill received a perceptible shaking for about three minutes from 2.15 p.m. to-day. The earthquake, although not violent, was stated to be one of the most pronounced for years. A few occupants of business premises made a quick exit to the street, but in some cases the disturbance was not even noticed. Few people on the streets were made aware of the movements. The earthquake was felt slightly at such centres as Dunedin, Gore, Bluff and Riverton, but there are no reports of any damage to buildings.
