MAN ON LEAVE FROM ARMY

Attired in grey sports trousers, a blue shirt and a white pullover, Aubrey Henry Curry, a sawmill hand, 20, appeared before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Police Court today on a charge of theft of a suitcase containing clothing of a total value of £7 14/6. Mr. V. N. Hubble appeared for Curry who admitted the charge. Detective-Sergeant Trethewey said Curry was arrested at a sawmill near Putararu, when wearing some of the stolen clothing. Mr. Hubble described the theft as an-isolated one, committed in unusual circumstances. When Curry obtained a job at a sawmill in the country, he was tempted and foolishly took clothing belonging to another man who stayed at the same apartment house in Victoria Street.
