CITY AND SUBURBAN
ONE-DAY GAMES FOR FINAL ROUND
There was keen discussion at last night's special meeting of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association, when opposition was expressed to a suggestion to alter the present system in favour of two-day matches for the third and final round. ' Mr. J. F. W. Dickson, chairman, stated tnat the competition had now reached an interesting stage, and it was the policy to retain a competitive spirit. , The position of teams lower in the competition was referred to by Mr. S. Learning, who said a club from the Business Houses' Association was now available, and the senior B championship should be continued, but under a separate ta Mr. H. E. Watts expressed the opinion that the senior competition, to include six clubs, should be finalised with the third round, to commence on Saturday next, and comprise oneday fixtures. In the event of wet weather, the matches set down for that day should be played on the following Saturday. , j Mr. Watts' suggestion was adopted. The unique rccord of R. Longville (Brixton), in scoring three consecutive centuries, was referred to, and it was decided to make him a suitable presentation later in the season. (Some years ago the brothers H. G. and L. E. Vivian performed a similar feat in A.C.C. Club matches). Fixtures for Saturday: Brixton v. M.T.P. A, Domain No. 2, Messrs. J. Elliott, W. R. Wilkie; Green Lane v. R.V. A, No. 1, Messrs. A. Stanley, J. Ball; Air Force v. Manukau A, No. 4, Messrs. A. E. Jupp, H. Rowe; Manukau B v. M.T.P. B, No. 3; R.V. B v. Carlton, Outer No. 1.
