SEMI-FINAL ON SATURDAY
SHORE TO PLAY AT EDEN PARK .The Auckland Cricket Association last night arranged the fixtures for the semifinals of the senior championship, for which Grafton (53), 'Varsity (51), Parnell (51) and North Shore (46) qualified on the 15 one-day matches played during the summer. These games are to be of two days* duration, the association reserving the right to allot extra time to the matches If weather seriously interferes with -« e Play. in the event of no decision being reached in either of the matches the winners will be determined on averages according to Piunket Shield rules. semi-finals and final will be Played at Eden Park, the latter match to be played on the representative wicket Grafton applied ior permission to travel to Wellington to meet the leading team in that competition later in the season. Approval was given, the matter of suitable dates to be confirmed later. Mr. w. H. Cooper was appointed to the umpires' grading committee to replace Mr. A. J. Postles, now on military service. On the recommendation of the Junior advisory committee it was decided to relinquish the Papatoetoe ground as from February 28. Two claims were received for Mr. P. W. Matthews' bat for the first century of the season, and the following sub-committee was set up to make a recommendation as to the awarding of the trophy: Messrs. E. A. Aueer, M. ' Clark and secretary E. J. Price. They have been presented with a knotty problem to solve, as the issue lies between the brothers William and Desmond Ross (Marist). members of the .Sacred Heart College team which won the* secondary schools' championship.
