ENGINEERING SCHOOL

The decision of the University Senate, subject to the approval of Parliament, to grant recognition to the School of Engineering, Auckland, in respect to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) was mentioned at yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board. The chairman, Mr. A. S. Sutherland, M.P., said it was most gratifying to have had notification from the Registrar of the New Zealand University on the Senate's decision. The board had supported the proposal for years and had made a grant of £500 in 1936 to endow a school of engineering at Auckland University College. He hoped it would not be long before arrangements were made for students to qualify fully in Auckland for all engineering degrees.
