WAR RISK INSURANCE
HARBOUR BOARD PROPERTY
Recommendations of the finance committee, which were confirmed at yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board, were that the board s floating plant be covered against war damage, for the amount originally allocated; that the board's other properties be insured for the same amount as previously for a further 12 months, and that in view of the apparent diminution of the immediate risk of war damage the attention of the Minister of Finance be called to the existing high rate of premium demanded, and that he be asked to give urgent consideration of the possibility of a reduction. >• • The superintendent, Mr. D. Holderness-, reported to the committee that the premium required on the floating plant was £742, and that in view of the improved, outlook in. the South Pacific both he and the board s treasurer considered the payment was hardly warranted.
